1940s Peter Henderson Bagpipe
1940s Peter Henderson Bagpipe -
This bagpipe is in excellent condition, made from African blackwood with Thistle engraved German silver(non hallmarked) ring caps, ferrules and slides. Real Ivory projecting mounts.
The set was bought used from the Henderson shop in the early 1950s, and based on comparisons with other Henderson pipes it seems these were made sometime in the mid 1940s.
The silver mouthpiece tube does have a 1939 Glasgow hallmark on it, but the pattern is not identical to the rest of the engraved parts. The middle tenor top has a tiny crack near the ringcap, it was repaired by the owner with marine glue and has not moved in 15 years.
As expected with earlier Henderson bagpipes, tonally this is a top shelf instrument demonstrating rich bass harmonics and ringing tenors.
Comes with newer Begg hide pipe bag, green drone cords and original Henderson chanter.
No tax will be charged for these as it is a consignment set.
Because of the real ivory it is not possible to ship these to the USA.
